First, I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by and check out the blog and some of our guides. We work incredibly hard on them and try our best to make them as informative as possible and truly helpful in your decision making process.

Second, I want to tell you a little bit about myself and my background because I think it’s important that you have a sense of who I am and how I approach food and cooking.

Throughout my career as a professional chef, I have approached every individual ingredient available to me in the kitchen as its own beast to tame. When you look closely enough at even the most humble additions to a recipe, like salt for example, a whole history and universe opens up reminding you that there is always more to know and learn. This is one of the driving principles behind my website: learn and explore food and cooking.

I currently live in Los Angeles, CA but am originally from New York. I decided to move out to sunny California with my husband right before my first daughter was born. This was back in 2003 and have since had 2 MORE kids (another girl and boy), but that’s a story for another time.

My fist and only passion is cooking, and more specifically baking. I have traveled all over the world studying from and learning under some of the most world renowned cooks and pastry chefs and I could not consider myself to be luckier. Learning from the masters in their fields has made me the chef and baker I am today and I am eternally grateful for the kindness and knowledge they shared with me over the years.

When I was 23 I was lucky enough to land an internships with one of the top restaurants in Norway and I ended up working and living there for many years. This is also where I met my wonderful husband 🙂

After a number of years we decided to move back to the states and I committed myself more fully to baking and pastries and worked at a number of establishment in New York. During that time I began writing online about my experiences in the industry and found a second passion. I loved being able to communicate the things I found so beautiful about cooking the world and I haven’t stopped since.

After moving to California to raise a family, my writing has taken the form of this blog. My friends and family are always asking me about the best this or that so I finally just wrote it down in one place for them!

For now it’s just reviews and guides but I hope to expand it to so much more in the future. I hope you enjoy what you read here and if you ever want to say hello please don’t be shy. You can reach me here.
